Apple Is Set To Launch Its First Online Store In India
The largest American smartphone company Apple announced the launch date of its first online store in India. On its website, the company said that the store will be live on September 23, 2020. Currently, Apple relies on third-party sellers to sell their products and services to the consumers. However, its latest move will help Tim Cook led the company to expand its market share in the second-largest smartphone market.
“We know our users are relying on technology to stay connected, engage in learning, and tap into their creativity, and by bringing the Apple Store online to India, we are offering our customers the very best of Apple at this important time,” said Deirdre O’ Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People, said in a statement. Earlier this year, TechCrunch reported that Apple is set to launch its online store in Q3 2020. Tim Cook reportedly said that it will be launching its own physical store in 2021.
Apple said that it will be offering AppleCare+ services and provide contact-free delivery to its consumers. Apple+ extends the hardware warranty up to two years of technical support and accidental damage cover. The coronavirus crisis has tremendously hit offline smartphone sales. Thus, to increase their sales and improve the consumer experience in these pressing times, Apple’s online store move is expected to instill confidence towards the product and services. Along with the aforementioned services, the online store will also provide customization services for its Mac products.
Additionally, Apple Store online will provide free online sessions focused on photography and music. With the enticing financial options for students, the company will also offer signature gift wrap and personal engraving in various local languages on certain products during the festive season. In a tweet, Tim Cook wrote “We know how important it is for our customers to stay in touch with those they love and the world around them. We can’t wait to connect with our customers and expand support in India with the Apple Store online on September 23.” However, the users tweeted a few common questions about affordability. They are also hoping that the opening of the online store should reduce the prices.
Apple products are an expensive deal in India and therefore to reduce the price range and avail tax benefits, the company began assembling of iPhone 7 model in 2018. The California-based company didn’t limit its assembling part to iPhone 7. Recently, Apple began assembling of its iPhone 11 model in India with help of Foxconn, its manufacturing partner. This has increased the company’s commitment to India and support the country’s “Made in India” initiative.
Meanwhile, in the latest Apple event, the company announced a range of products that exhilarated Apple lovers. Earlier this month, it announced iOS 14, Apple’s latest software, which offers a lot of features that ultimately improved the consumers’ experience. Along with this, it introduced Apple Watch Series 6 that has flagship features such as blood oxygen sensors, sleep tracking, and improved performance & battery life. However, it didn’t have any distinct industrial design changes. The smartwatch will have a price range of $399-$429.
In this event, the audience was disappointed as Apple didn’t announce any design specifications or revealed any information about the much-awaited iPhonre12. Nevertheless, it is reported that the company is planning to unveil iPhone 12 in a separate event in October 2020.
