Last year there were numerous allegations of sexual crimes against famous stars of Hollywood like Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein. This was happening amidst the ongoing debate about diversity and equality between people of different races and genders.
Eight prominent actors took to the red carpet along with the protestors to highlight the issue.

Tarana Burke was one of the protestors too, Tarana is also the founder of the #MeToo movement which came out last year to highlight the abuse against women. A joint statement of the activists says, “We believe we are nearing a tipping point in transforming the culture of violence in the countries where we live and work. It’s a moment to transform both the written and unwritten rules that devalue the lives and experiences of women.”

Connie Britton decided to skip the standard gown.
Instead of the usual gowns that almost every actress wears, Connie Britton chose to wear a distinctive graphic sweater that made Twitter go crazy. She wore cashmere brand Lingua Franca’s design that featured the words “Poverty is sexist”.
Many fans on Twitter loved what she wore.
