After years of studying hard, the graduation ceremony…
The 45 year old mother Tondaleya Robinson was finally graduated after years of studying hard from Peirce College in Philadelphia. The mother was studying hard to get her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
A hardworking mother.
Tondaleya Robinson was born and raised in West Philadelphia, the hard working woman spent her days after marriage taking care of her husband and her sons.
Tondaleya’s life had a tragic twist.
Three years before her graduation day Tondaleya lost her husband and the father of her children Charles Robinson Jr in a battle with diabetes.
Tondaleya Robinson’s eldest son was in the Marine.
Tondaleya’s 23 year old son Corporal Paul Robinson had joined the army as a tribute to his father, who was also a Marine. Paul’s mother’s struggle inspired him to join the army too. Because of his duties he couldn’t be around to take care of his mother.
Stationed on a base in Virginia
It was very difficult for Paul to meet his mother as he was stationed in Virginia, but lucky for Paul someone told his superiors about Paul’s mother’s graduation ceremony, and Paul was soon summoned.
Paul decided to thank his mother.
Paul remembering his mothers struggle through the years he decided to say thank you to her in the most amazing way. When he learned of her graduation night, he decided to do something good on that day. Paul’s superiors said, “Hey Robinson, what are you doing here today? Aren”t you supposed to be home with your mom?” and Paul replied, “I said, ‘Roger that, sir.'”

Paul then finally drove to the center where the ceremony was taking place. When Tondaleya went on the stage to receive her degree, Paul wearing his uniform surprised his mother on the stage. Tondaleya was totally unaware of her son coming to the ceremony.

When Paul surprised her, the mother expressed her feeling, “I was crying. I was jumping. I was shaking. I could not believe it, I said, ‘Oh you got me on that one. It was the best thing that he could have done.'” Paul then presented his mother with the graduation degree.
