Playboy Makes History With Its First Transgender Playmate Ines Rau
A Playmate is a model who shows up in the centerfold of the magazine known as Playmate of the Month in the Playboy magazine. Model Ines Rau has impacted the world forever as the model is the first transgender Playmate to show up in the Playboy magazine. After the death of the founder, Hugh Hefner who was an advocate for the LGBT issues, the 26-year-old model showed up in the magazine's centerfold spot. Ines first showed up in the May 2014 issue of Playboy special edition which looked at gender as non-binary.
She recently gave her first interview to the media about the feature as Playmate.
“Every woman’s beauty deserves to be celebrated,” she said. She has shown up in Vogue Italia and also featured for a fashion brand – Balmain. With the November issue of Playboy, she’ll turn into the first transgender Playmate ever.
She also says:
She said, “No one deserves to be a woman more than those [trans women] who routinely suffer abuse and are treated like they’re less than nothing.”
Models like Ines Rau are becoming more visible in fashion brands.
The first-ever transgender model to get highlighted in a magazine was Marie Claire in 2016.
