The restaurant owner wrote, “To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night – hope you enjoyed your evening! To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway”

A wine collector named Manuel D’ercoli jots down the subtle experience of swallowing the wine. He writes, “Deep ruby red and full consistency. Shining nose both deep and soft between chamomile, fresh cut grass, elderberries, liquorice, gunpowder, sandalwood and marasca with balsamic hint and saffron. The taste is so powerful and balanced but surprises for the acidity and the persistence. Never taste a so spiced, soft, fresh and powerful merlot at the same time. Without doubts, one of the most beautiful wines that I ever tried.”

It’s still unclear that if Steve H-S was the actual customer of the restaurant and also doubtful that if the customer paid for the expensive wine. But one thing we can be clear about is that the customer would have paid a hefty tip for the “rarities” sections on their wine list.
