Union Pacific To Spend $550 million On New Rail Yard In Texas
Union Pacific Railroad reported Jan. 25 the organization began construction this month on a major rail yard near Hearne, Texas, a $550 million venture that is the biggest in the railroad's 103-year history. Union Pacific at first wanted to begin work in 2014, however, postponed construction, referring to changes in demand. It is expected to make in the vicinity of 500 and 550 construction jobs during two years of work.
The new rail yard will be worked near where seven Union Pacific rail lines unite in Hearne.

The location is the ideal point to build the yard, which will break separated trains that come into the office and reassemble cars into new trains headed to their desired location.
